Love me, or leave me alone...
One of those moments where I want to be told everything will be alright. I wish I had a recording of his voice. I need some guidance and I only want from him.

In 1951 #JanetCollins became the first black prima ballerina to perform with the #MetropolitanOperaBallet in New York City, New York. As such she broke one of the last major color barriers in classical #ballet. Janet Collins was born on March 2, 1917 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Her mother was a seamstress and her father was a tailor. In 1921 when she was four Janet moved with her parents to Los Angeles, California.

At the age of ten, Collins began to study #dance. Her first dance training was at the Los Angeles Catholic Community Center. Ironically, Collin’s parents urged her to study painting rather than dance because at the time, art seemed to offer more opportunities to gifted African Americans than classical dance. Collins studied art on a scholarship at Los Angeles City College and later at the Los Angeles Art Center School.

Collins, however, never completely abandoned dance and fortunately she attracted the attention of Adolph Bohm, #CarmelitaMaracci, and #MiaSlavenska, all prominent dance instructors who agreed to work with her. Despite such training, Collins was rejected when she auditioned for Leonide Massine, the director of the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo in #1932 at the age of fifteen. His company was performing in Los Angeles during its American tour and advertised for an aspiring young dancer to audition for the company. When Collins’ turn came, a hush fell over the dancers but when she finished the ballerinas applauded. Massine saw her talent but told her to be accepted, “she would have to paint her skin white for performances.” In the exchange quoted in U.S. News & World Report, Collins responded, “I thought talent mattered, not color.” #truthblackfriday

"☆☆☆Black History Moment☆☆☆ Remember receiving calls before you knew who was calling thanks to caller ID? Well if you didn’t know it was a Beautiful Sista named Dr. Shirley Jackson. Who created the Caller ID.

Dr. Shirley Jackson attended Massachusetts Institute of
Technology (MIT) where she received a Bachelors, Masters, and Doctoral Degree, all in the field of physics. In doing so she became the first African-American woman to acquire a Ph.D. from MIT.

Dr. Jackson started to conduct successful experiments in theoretical physics and then started to use her knowledge in physics to start making advances in telecommunications while working at Bell Laboratories.

These inventions include
developments in the Portable Fax, Touchtone Telephone, Solarcell, and the Fiber Optic
Cables used to provide clarity in overseas telephone calls. She has also helped make
possible Caller ID and Call Waiting.

Currently, Dr. Jackson is the president of the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, recently
ranked by U.S. News and World Report as one of the nation’s top 50 universities.

Dr.Jackson’s goal for Rensselaeris is to achieve prominence in the 21st century as a top-tier world-class technological research University.

Lost Key
Smeared makeup, waterfalls start as streams but this time they were created from heartbreak. Soul in disarray, he told me he lost my key and did not want to find it again, lied to me again, said he would protect the key to my heart with his life; guess he died again. Facts conflict with denial creating confusion because I’m in disbelief of my reality. This has to be an alternate dimension where all sad things happen to me and soul mates break promises like pilgrims broke break with Indians in the name of peace but no peace ensued just pieces of me scattered and diseased with the sickness of sadness.
I am torn… I am torn and my eyes won’t stop creating waterfalls, I’m drowning in sorrow and you’re standing there with a face and look dry as deserts like our love meant nothing. I thought my kisses were irreplaceable, I thought my hugs gave you hope. Who’s going to play in my hair? Who’s going to kiss me before bed like you do? Never thought I had to imagine counting the stars with anyone else but you. Now all I have is moments I can grab temporary happiness from that now end in pain. The thought of you hurts but oddly keeps me sane. ” What makes you laugh can make you cry” has never been more real then in this moment. I’m hurting, my mind is in a thick fog so I do what I do best, I skate. I skate to escape it all. I skate to feel free and unbroken I am free. Picture from model and complete bad ass @ladyrollers

I accepting because I am open, I’m ready to receive all that comes my way. I’m accepting of knowledge especially if it will help educate me further creating a better quality of life and understanding. I will be wise because I take time to listen weather it be ridicule or praise. I accept it all, in turn I am more aware of how to teach my people so they can be better than me and not make the same mistakes I made. -Poetofwar #42lawsofmaat #lawsoflife #laws #maat #rules #kemet #original10commandments #truth #justice #balance #african #africa #goddess #black #feather #melanin #melanite #enlightenment #egypt #ancient #history #kemeticorigin #lawsofmaat #conscious #truthblackfriday
